Ravello Versus New York: A Crane Comparison

(P-O-P-S) Ravello and availability at the Palazzo Sasso were the centerfold around which our seasoned travel agent had booked our Italian trip. We spent four spectacular days in Venice, a city so unique, it could never disappoint, flew off to Milan where a driver took us by limousine to Pompeii, a total civilization of historical impact that none can dispute -- and ultimately arrived in Ravello.

US Marital Status A La 2008

(P-O-P-S) Jenna Bush opted out of a public, pompous White House wedding as the daughter of an incumbent unpopular President, unlike marrying presidential daughters before her. Still her wedding could hardly be described as a simple family affair although it took place in a small town in Texas. The majority of marrying couples in 2008 will opt for traditional celebrations of between 100 -200 guests, according to The Wedding Report.com, a web site that uncovers the details of wedding receptions for industry planners and media alike.

Playing It Safe At The Gym: Reaching Your Fitness Goals Without Injury Or Illness

(P-O-P-S) Americans are into fitness. Witness the 400 per cent growth in the past five years of Equinox Health Clubs across the country and their slogan sums it up in a nutshell: “It’s not fitness, it’s life.” Still, every silver lining has a cloud, and the best intentions can be thwarted if you are unaware of how to make your gym experience a beneficial time instead of an opportunity for pain, personal injury, even serious health consequences.

CELEBRATE “NICE” AS ROCK STAR DINO, BARNEY, ROLLS INTO TOWN ON THE SECOND LEG OF HIS 20th ANNIVERSARY TOUR

(P-O-P-S) The Beatles told us “All you need is love;” Captain and Tennille promised that “Love Will Keep Us Together;” but it took a big purple dinosaur named Barney to show us the way.

And this journey is taking Barney to a city near you, thanks to the dino’s 20th Anniversary Big Purple Bus Tour.

“Barney has been sharing and caring with preschoolers for 20 years and this bus tour is his way of giving back to those that have loved him for so many years,” said Jamie Cygielman, Senior Vice President & General Manager, Consumer Products, HIT Entertainment North America.

Nationwide, Far Fewer Families Than Needed Give Consent To Donate Organs For Transplant

(P-O-P-S) Americans are known to donate more money than any other country to charities at home and abroad. We firmly believe we are the masters of our own money and take steps to secure what happens to it after we are gone. Why then have so many of us failed to capture this spirit of American philanthropy when it comes to donating organs that our loved ones can no longer use?

THE TRUTH ABOUT KIDNEY TRANSPLANT : A THREE PART SERIES

Dear Editor:

The following three features are best read as a series. Intended to reveal some of the issues surrounding transplant, they are about one individual's transplant experience -- and are not meant to imply that every transplant will encounter the same problems.

Happily, the person whose rocky initial transplant experiences are shared here can report that her "gift of life" is working beautifully a little after a year down the road. Excellent doctors can make miracles happen.

The Truth About Kidney Transplant - Part 1: Eureka! A Donor Kidney

(P-O-P-S) Dr. Lloyd Ratner, the kidney surgeon known for paired match, who had recently relocated to the Presbyterian portion of New York-Presbyterian hospital as Surgeon Director of Renal Transplant, told me, “Transplant is no walk in the park…” Still, for a person like me who had built up intense emotional fear about dialysis, it was the solution of choice. My kidneys were at the ESRD (End Stage Renal Disease) point, and I had spent ten days in New York Hospital being detoxified and beginning dialysis through a newly installed chest catheter.

The Truth About Kidney Transplant - Part 2: Rejection, Rejection, Rejection

(P-O-P-S) Five days after I received my five year old deceased donor transplant, I felt miraculous and was lagging miles around the renal transplant floor located in Milstein Pavilion, New York-Presbyterian. Seven days later at home, I got the chills and had fever of 102 degrees Fahrenheit, after taking two Tylenol. The miracle was aborted.
