Schweitzer Haiti (HAS) in Deschapelles, Haiti, not only lead his hospital through one of the most awful disasters in Haitian history, but continues to meet the needs of an increased population in the Artibonite Valley resulting from the January 12th earthquake in Port-au-Prince. This is no small feat considering the earthquake devastation increased the hospital’s service population by 50%, from 300,000 to more than 450,000 and totally shut down Port-au-Prince hospital facilities.
